General Antonio G. Nafarrete, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), reaffirmed the military’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful and credible 2026 Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Parliamentary Elections during the Final Command Conference on August 26 at Camp Salipada K. Pendatun in Parang, Maguindanao del Norte.

The AFP Chief joined Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla, Commission on Elections Chairperson George Erwin M. Garcia, Philippine National Police Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., and other key government and security officials.

Following a security briefing presented by the Western Mindanao Command, General Nafarrete emphasized that peaceful elections are a shared responsibility that requires strong coordination, discipline, and a unified commitment among government institutions and other stakeholders. “This election carries the hope of communities that have worked hard for peace and greater self-governance.”

General Nafarrete reiterated the AFP’s full support for COMELEC and its partners, underscoring the military’s commitment to protecting the people’s right to vote and helping create an environment where every voice can be heard. “To our COMELEC and all our partners, you have the full support of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.”
