Six hundred fisherfolk from various coastal barangays in Bacolod City were trained as the first group of volunteers for the Bacolod Community Disaster Preparedness Training.

They will serve as the initial responders during natural disasters.
They received their identification cards, Certificates of Completion, and 10 kilos of rice from Mayor Greg Gastaya and Councilor Pao.
Gastaya stated that top performers will have the opportunity to be employed at the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management office, and those already employed may be promoted.
They are scheduled to undergo CPR training on July 6, 2026.
