Bacolod City Mayor Greg Gasataya solemnized the conduct of a mass wedding at the annual fiesta celebration of Barangay Felisa in Bacolod City.

A city mayor has the authority to officiate marriages according to the Local Government Code.

Under the Family Code, marriage is a special contract of permanent union between a man and a woman entered into in accordance with law for the establishment of conjugal and family life.

It is the foundation of the family and an inviolable social institution whose nature, consequences, and incidents are governed by law.

Gasataya strongly supports the legalization of couples’ unions.
