Two persons died in a vehicular accident involving a black Honda Click 125 motorcycle with Plate Number FNG 670L and Mitsubishi L300 Van bearing Plate Number FAH 9020 along the National Road of Sitio Tabugok, Brgy. Patun-an, Calatrava, Negros Occidental, at 6 AM on May 16, 2026.

The motorcycle driven by Trophany Panaga y Chat, a 41-year-old married man and resident of Sitio Sta. Ana, Brgy. Mabini, Escalante City, with a passenger, Jembo Burao was heading toward San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.

The van was driven by Lomi Boliboli y Sequia, a 31-year-old single, a resident of Brgy. Calampisawan, Calatrava, Negros Occidental.

The incident occurred at Sitio Tabugok, Brgy. Patun-an, Calatrava, Negros Occidental.

Duty Investigator PCpl Noel Lantoria and Traffic Enforcer Romy Cañete responded immediately to investigate after a concerned citizen reported the accident to this stationat around 6:30 PM on May 16, 2026.

The investigation revealed that when the motorcycle reached a curved section of the road at Sitio Tabugok, the rider was going at a high speed and trying to overtake another vehicle. The rider lost control and collided head-on with an oncoming Mitsubishi vehicle traveling in the opposite direction toward Calatrava.

The motorcycle driver saw the high-speed overtaking on the curved road and tried to avoid the collision, but the Mitsubishi struck head-on, resulting in the instant death of both the motorcycle rider and his passenger.

They were then taken to the Calatrava Municipal Health Office. The attending physician, Dr. James Bryan Balabagno, MD, declared them dead on arrival. The Mitsubishi driver and both vehicles involved were brought to the Calatrava Municipal Police Station for proper disposition of the case.
