Governor Eugenio Jose “Bong Lacson” led the send-off ceremony and distribution of assistance to Negros Occidental athletes who will represent the province in the 2026 Palarong Pambansa to be held in Agusan del Sur from May 24 to 31.

The Provincial Government provided a total of P11.7 million to the athletes, coaches, assistant coaches, chaperones, trainers, officials, and support personnel, which includes concentration training allowances, pre-Palaro activity and Palaro participation allowances, as well as hygiene kits and parade uniforms.
A total of 266 athletes, 43 coaches, 14 assistant coaches, and 18 chaperones are bound for Agusan del Sur to participate in Palaro 2026.
They were also provided with transportation assistance, shoes and uniforms, accommodation, meals, contingency support, and playing allowances to help ensure their preparedness, welfare, and optimal performance during the competition.
Gov. Lacson encouraged the athletes to carry with them not only the goal of winning medals in the Palaro but also the values of discipline, humility, teamwork, and sportsmanship as they represent the province in the national competition.
“Compete with courage, represent our province with honor, and continue to inspire other young Negrenses to dream bigger and aim higher,” he said.
The governor also thanked the coaches, trainers, teachers, parents, and support personnel for their patience, sacrifices, and unwavering guidance in preparing the athletes for the event.
Joining the governor at the activity held at the Capitol Social Hall were Negros Occidental Schools Division Superintendent Gladys Amylaine Sales, Chief Education Supervisor Romeo Sison Jr., and staff from the Provincial Sports Office.*
